My Own Healer

I found peace in the darkness of night. I learned to move without light, I found beauty without sight. In echoes of silence, I found balance and felt meaning in the hidden realms of the endless. The dark does not lure me and I have lived in the abyss, deep in the ocean, drowning, I learned to swim.

I have given the credit for my growth to those around me. I have always let my self hope. Me finding strength in darkness and crawling out of the grave stronger was not for those who poisoned my soul and tossed my body in the dirt, knowing I breathed shallow and then covered me with heaps of mud. They wished my rot and felt burying me absolved them of their sins. My restitution has never been about vengence nor has it been to claim what they stole from me. I have crawled out of the pit and made my wealth over again. I carry an endless strength within my soul and it is not for my oppressors but for the strength within that I have called God. God has not been love, nor a tainted version of those who use it to ostracize my existence. I’m set free from the shackles every time. And my transcendence is nearness.

My hope, inner strenth and compassion will not bow. That is the truth of God. I rise to love but not for those who have condemned me. I rise for myself. Recognizing love does not need to be holding dissonance with self. I can want kindness in the world and hope to build a future where the rest of the world learns to do so.
